We also want to make sure the abdomen is moving well after a C-section since scar tissue and fascial restrictions can form in the abdomen which can be linked to back, SI, and hip pain.

    • Scar tissue can sometimes cause ongoing pain. Pelvic floor physical therapists can use various modalities like manual therapy, stretching, and relaxation techniques to alleviate discomfort.

  • Pelvic Health Education:

    • Pelvic floor physical therapists educate patients about proper posture, body mechanics, and lifestyle changes to maintain pelvic health and prevent future issues.

Timing and Frequency of Therapy: Pelvic floor physical therapy can start as early as 2-3 weeks postpartum if you are in a lot of pain, or around 4-6 weeks, once your healthcare provider gives the green light.
