While our services include specialized pages “for women” and “for men,” we acknowledge and celebrate the spectrum of gender identities. We are dedicated to serving cisgender, transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, intersex, and all individuals seeking pelvic floor therapy. Our goal is to ensure that every person who walks through our doors feels seen, heard, and valued!
Our Process
Our process starts with a comprehensive evaluation to make sure we have a full understanding of what is going on. We will assess your posture, breathing, how you are moving, all surrounding joints of area involved, and your strength. For pelvic floor therapy we can perform an external or internal assessment of your pelvic floor muscles, it is always up to you. We will always ask for your consent and educate you on what information we can obtain from an assessment and why we think it is important. We want to know what you have tried in the past and what helped or didn’t help. We will look at the body holistically to get a good idea of what is driver of your symptoms. We spend ample time with you to make sure we have a clear understanding and develop a plan of care that makes sense to you. We will start treatment and come up with a program for you to start right away to work towards symptom resolution or management.
Relief from symptoms
In this phase, we want to build a foundation to initiate good movement patterns and establish habits to decrease or resolve symptoms. We believe a combination of hands-on techniques (massage, myofascial release, cupping, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization), and exercises can help build a good base.
Restore strength and coordination
In this phase we focus on stabilization, coordination, and alignment training with optimal muscle firing patterns. We progress to more functional positions for exercises and focus on postural exercises to enhance function. We also use body work as needed to encourage good movement patterns.
Return to activities and sports
The strengthening and performance phase is key to long-term success and life changing outcomes! Not only do we want to make sure you get back to doing what you love with confidence, we want you to have the tools and education to stay symptom free for the long haul and know what to do if flare ups happen.

We are committed to offering you individualized care, focused on you and your goals. We treat the “whole” body not one part and believe this is hugely important to obtain lasting results. Our goal is to make long-lasting, life-time changes, and to teach you to manage or maintain a healthy and active lifestyle per your goals. We want to empower you to feel confident getting back to whatever it is you want to with a customized plan that works for you.
We typically find the fastest and best outcomes with weekly appointments for 6-12 weeks. This may be longer for chronic conditions. At your first visit, your therapist will educate you on the steps needed to reach your goals per findings during the examination. We want you to feel confident prior to leaving your first visit in the process we lay out for you, and have realistic expectations on achieving your goals. Everyone's body responds differently to treatments- complexity, chronicity and other factors all need to be considered, and sometimes we have to build a team of practitioners to achieve the best outcomes.

You are welcome to use your insurance. It will fall under out of network benefits for physical therapy. We will provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance under out of network (OON) benefits. A superbill will have all the information and codes that you need to submit to your insurance. Some insurances may reimburse you anywhere between 30-70% after deductible is met. We can guide you on questions to ask your insurance to find out your plan details. We are not responsible for your reimbursement. Please make sure to check with your insurance provider whether you need authorization before treatment.
Majority of our clients have insurance and choose to work with us for the outcomes and quality we offer. In order to provide the type of one-on-one treatment that our patients want and deserve we do not have a relationship with any insurances. In network PT’s have lower pay out from insurances causing them to have to see more patients per day, use aides and support staff, and decrease visit times. We strongly believe patients deserve our full attention to get better faster and reach their goals. We want to treat the body as a "whole" and insurance does not typically cover this type of approach, they expect you to only treat the issue directly. We find this does not give the lasting outcomes and optimal health we are looking for.
Forms of payment we accept include check, cash, credit/debit, or HSA/FSA.

We are unable to work with Medicare beneficiaries for physical therapy due to Medicare rules and regulations. We can work together under wellness category if you are looking for general conditioning, strengthening, or movement training. We are happy to refer you to an in network clinic that can help you if you are looking for physical therapy.

In the state of California for physical therapy we have limited “direct access” which means we are able to treat individuals for up to 45 days or 12 visits which ever comes first without a doctor’s prescription. After that time we will need a prescription to continue treatments. If you do not have a prescription, not a problem. We will send your evaluation (first visit note) to your preferred physician for a signature. We want your treatment team to be as collaborative as possible, and also find this helps with communication.

If you are pregnant and currently experiencing pregnancy pains such as hip, pelvic, and/or low back pain, it is best to start treatment now to address your discomfort, get your body prepared for delivery and speed up your postpartum recovery. We can also set up monthly check ins to help manage any symptoms that come up. If you are feeling fine, we can also start pelvic floor therapy during your third trimester anywhere from 32-36 weeks. During these sessions, your therapist will provide some hands on bodywork, work on your pelvic alignment, review labor and birth positions, teach you how to “push” and provide you with education about the birthing process.
-
If you are having any pain or concerns after childbirth, we can start as early as 2 weeks postpartum and take you through some gentle movement and bodywork. Otherwise, we can wait until after your postpartum OB appointment (4-6 weeks postpartum). We like to start early postpartum to build good habits during the tissue healing phase to decrease risk of issues happening as you return to full activities.

Even though you didn’t give birth vaginally, your pelvic floor, core and whole body is affected from carrying around the weight of your baby for 9 months. Plus you had a major abdominal surgery. Following your c-section, we can assess how your pelvic floor has been affected externally or internally, address your c-section scar tissue, and work on core rehabilitation.

As a pelvic floor therapist our assessment will look different than your standard pelvic exam. We do not use stirrups or a speculum. We will use one or two gloved fingers inserted in the vagina or rectum to assess the pelvic floor muscles, how they are contracting, relaxing, and coordinating with movements. We can perform this in multiple positions to obtain the best information.
